Mark, in his FlaBlog, refers to the fictious "Florida Society for the Encouragement of Bike Racks". This inspired me, a lifetime cyclist, to see what is being done or can be done, in Florida, to improve cycling. Thanks Mark.

With the country going through another energy situation, maybe it's time to push for local governments to provide simple amenities to induce alternative transportation choices.

There is a need for adding, and improving existing, bicycle racks, paths and secure lockers as well as developing methods to combine bike riding and public transportation.

There are many examples of these throughout Europe as well as a growing list of US cities proving the models work.

If you have any pictures or information on Florida locations with Bike Friendly conveniences, post your comments. Maybe others can use them to convince their local governments, or even progressive businesses, to improve our part of the world.
